PUBLIC INPUT:  Department of Wild Life Issues.

Fred Quartarone, of the D.O.W. discussed deer disease and recent culling activities within Glacier View Meadows.  He stated that 26 deer were taken during an eight-day period in late October early November (7 males, 19 females, 1 of which was a juvenile) of the 26 animals one was diagnosed with wasting disease.  Last year the D.O.W. took 8 deer and two were infected.  Due to the low number of infected animals they found this year the culling is completed in G.V.M. for 2004.  He also discussed the Red Feather Herd in the last 3 years they reduced that Herd from 9000 animals to 7000 animals.  The D.O.W. plans to hold the population of the Herd to 7000.  Also concerning the Red Feather Herd, Fred stated that during the years 2002-2003 deer hunters turned in 1500 deer heads for testing of those tested 6.45% were infected.  During 2003-2004 deer hunters turned in 900 heads for testing of those tested 3.9% were infected.
